I don't like portraits of smiling children. The images are not that good. If you do some research you will find the best child (and adult) portraits are sans grins and giggles.

"The best child (and adult) portraits" Sort of depends on the viewer doesn't it? Judges or parents...

The classic portraits that have endured, whether painted or photographed, tend to NOT have smiles on the subject.

But the point of a childhood portrait is to please the parents and show to relatives, not to endure for hundreds of years.

True - a parent wants photo's of their children being happy. Sure enough if you are a stock photographer and want a crying child sure dont make them smile or laugh lol but a parent wants a happy child portrait? Thats what i have always found anyway...and if i wanted child portraits id want a happy child (Thats if i had children!)

I'm with Del. Farts work every time. Check a Spencer Gifts store in your area. They always seem to have the most obnoxious items available that never fail to make a kid laugh!
