I have no idea what this was but it's black wings really contrasted it's iridescent body :)

Well the wings looked blacker when it was flying :lol:

It looks like a dragonfly colin but what throws me off is the opaque wings that it has, normally they translucent.
But what glorious colours though and with the background colour this image has wonderful composition.

I believe that is a damselfly.

I agree the colours were absolutely gorgeous, when they were airborne the wings looked jet black and set off the colourful body :)

They are pretty jumpy and shy though, i was trying to approach them but they'd fly off considering how close i needed to get with the 18-55, this one landed almost right next to me which was handy :)
