Hiya all,
Just as I finished my roast this 'Shield Bug' crashed into the patio window, so poor Ami ( ever suffering wife ) had to clear away whilst I played, as you can see (hopefully) I managed to flip it over & get a close up of its eye, actually it looks like it has two sets ????.
Now for my pud 'Spotted Dick & Custard'
Cheers for now
Mark

Nice shots Mark, very nice detail in that second shot. As Alan said, the 2nd set of eyes are Oceli, which are simple eyes unlike the main eyes which are compound in nature.

what we miss with out feeble eyes we MORE than make up for with our AWESOME brains........ all other animals are stuck with the eyes they have... we can throw a macro lens in front of ours :)

"birds of prey have some of the best eyesight in the animal kingdom"........
PAH thats simply not true ....it's me when looking through my telescope ..... I can see for a couple of million lightyears then.....

wonder what a golden eagle would see if it looked thru the scope :)
