hey to all .. I am trying to get this flowing water look down but I a newb so C & C welcome.. thanks

yes but no.. i had my camera on a tripod yes but this set of falls was hard to reach so i had to stand in the river to shoot.. i tried to position it on a rock but obviously still had some shake

The first one is alittle to OOF for me. I like the second one. You have the flow looking good. Always use a tripod for slow shutter speeds if possible. Try using a ND filter or bracketing your shots to pull out more shadow detail and dynamic range. I am a newbie too but this is what I have learned so far. Keep up the good work. ;)

here are a couple of water fall pics i took recently...

Used a tripod, with a very high f/# and pretty slow shutter speed. This was mid day.

This one is about 50' tall.

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO



This one is much smaller... You can see that i forgot to edit the very large spot on my sensor out of this one. haha

Here's a sample of one, using a tripod, 4x ND filter, and 2.5 second exposure at f/11:

The trick to a lot of scenes like this is getting the tipod positioned exactly as you want it, as rivers/streams are seldom nice and flat! In this shot, I ended up having my tripod legs at all sorts of heights to get the framing I wanted.
