Problem solved, it was all about the reader, i got only Generic memory card reader on my PC and that cannot read or write more than aprox. 20mb/s.

Only reader, which can read these faster cards, as far i know, its this one...

SanDisk ImageMate® Multi-Card USB 2.0 Reader

Any relatively new card reader should read the 4 GB and larger cards (marked SDHC). The SDHC standard is slightly different from SD, which runs up to 2 GB and which is all the older card readers can handle.

Hello ppl, i recently bought Sandisk Extreme III 30mb/s memory card and just tested it with HD tach, result was only 20.3mb/s while my second card Sandisk Ultra II 15mb/s result was 18mb/s.
Extreme wasnt what they promise, not even near, is this normal that there can be a so huge difference!
Anybody using same Extreme card here, if so can you test your card?

how did you test it? usb? firewire? eide? etc... usb will rarely reach 30mb/s also depends on controllers (on motherboard, hubs etc..) that were used. type of card reader etc..

OMG!
Isn't ebay checking it? My goodness...

EBAY doesn't care.

on ebay you can buy

1)pirated movies, dvd-rs recorded with movies in other language, or PAL only disc converted to NTSC and recorded on dvd-r

2) pirated games, mostly PC games where seller writes comment, that this game only comes with single player cd-key and will not work with multiplayer
2a) or steam enabled games like AVP, Empire Total War etc... that are burned on dvd-r and use custom made installer removing steam, and deactivating multiplayer options.

3) counterfeit electronics, memory cards, usb drives, etc....

4) counterfeit products like clothes, shoes, etc....

5) counterfeit blank media, there is company that clains to manufacture their blank media in USA, but actual disc are made in China, and are of really poor quality.

6) pirated software, where people are selling Adobe Master Suite for 100-200 bucks

7) illegally distributed software, where people are selling stolen cd-keys (just cd-keys) to stuff like adobe, or windows. Also very popular it seems to be selling windows 7 keys from MSDN or Technet, where the key will work for a while until MS finds out that key was sold illegally and product will not activate anymore.

if you buy on ebay, you have to be very very very very very careful

Reader is inside of PC, factory installed, so i have to quess that is USB connected...

And yes, all new readers may read all bigger cards than 4 gb, but how fast?
Mine reader cant exeed over 20mb/s, maby it is bottleneck or mobo, i dont know.
Its difficult to find any specs either, cos its name is only Generic SD/mmc device...oh btw, it is really USB, found from system properties!

yes, probably USB 2.0, not every usb device performs in the same way.

some times you can even ran into chipset compability issues, where one device might not want play nice with another, or because of poor design it will never reach full usb 2.0 speed.

Yes its true, my mobo is original Intel something..but its cheap and work on audio, which is reason why i bought this PC.
But its not the end, i can use camera to import all RAW files and thats not so slow task that i cant wait, but it would be a nice to know, how close 30mb/s this card really can get!
Thx for helping for all.

if you want to really take advantage of fast CF cards best way to go is either SATA/ESATA CF card reader with HotSwap, or ExpressCard (laptop) form reader. USB 3.0 reader (if someone made one already)

USB2.0 is just to slow.

Can anyone PM me (or post a pic on this thread) the back of a SanDisk 32gb 60mb/sec CF card? Bought it on Amazon, but the top portion has a red stripe across it where SanDisk is in white and I've never seen that on the cards before...Thx guys!

Vengence is mine sayeth the L**d
I fortunately have had good luck (no exploding batteries) with a different Hong Kong person selling BP 511A batteries claiming to be geniune and they work great.
Another time I purchased a Seiko automatic watch from Hong Kong which a jewler verified as genuine.
The reality is there are scammers and crooks everywhere in any country. Garage sales and flea markets are always selling expensive often new tools for a fraction of the retail price. Hmmmm.
An 8 GB Extreme III with a too good to be true starting bid of $9.99 + 13.99 Hong Kong. Seller ID # csy881**** used a Mfg Photo of geniune sandi** CF card but did not use the word genuine sand*** in the listing. Some of the other memory cards the seller was listing had the word genuine. The metal on CF card had sharp corners instead of rounded corners. The back label was grey instead of white and was missing the trash can with slash mark.
The arrows in the oval on the front were different. The genuine Mfg verified the white serial number on the edge is not their product.
I did a primitive test by cramming photos from the computer folders into the CF it holds 7.50 GB In another test I snapped off approx 15 frames in 5 seconds in continious mode.
I did inform this seller with good feedback and what appears to be a good business that he/she may have been ripped off should seriously consider another supplier for many reasons including legal reasons.
The seller very politely said I could return it for a refund. I said return shipping to Hong Kong from the US would not be economical.
I informed the seller that the CF card functioned good for an unknown brand CF card and would not be used in my expensive camera to avoid potential damage. I would only use it load photos from the computer into it then have prints made at a local lab.
Within a day I recieved an e-mail saying that the seller refunded me $10 for my troubles making this unknown CF card that performs good only $13.99
Basically if sellers are going to sell fake look alike or Generic CF cards that may perform good they should simply have manufacturers make custom labels for them so they can have their own brand and have an authentic reputation of their own.
I am considering making a video for the internet showing this generic look alike CF card.

I dont get why it matters if it's a so-called "fake".
If it works, and has the capacity you wanted, then what's the prob?
I did have an SD stated was 8gb, but really was 2gb. ok, so what? I used it anyway.
A store near me gives away 8gb Chinese made cards with purchase of camera. Sells them
for $10. Case says PNY, but no brand is written on them, no label, just some #'s on bottom. However, they work just fine.
