I dont get why it matters if it's a so-called "fake".
If it works, and has the capacity you wanted, then what's the prob?
I did have an SD stated was 8gb, but really was 2gb. ok, so what? I used it anyway.
A store near me gives away 8gb Chinese made cards with purchase of camera. Sells them
for $10. Case says PNY, but no brand is written on them, no label, just some #'s on bottom. However, they work just fine.

Sure it may work, but allot of people look for quality and reliability. You stated you bought an 8Gb card, but really was only 2Gb. So you probably paid the price of an 8Gb card. Sure 8Gb cards aren't expensive, but so aren't 2Gb cards. You probably didn't lose that much. Not sure about you, but I don't like paying for a $30 object and only getting a $10 object. Imagine someone buying a 16Gb or even 32Gb card and later finding out it's actually have the size. They wasted more money. Plus being a fake, the person buying the card was expecting it to be 600x speed and later realizing it to be 133x speed. Imaging doing a paid wedding and having 4 * 32Gb 600X Cf cards and finding out the cards are only 16Gb or even 4Gb cards at 133x speeds. Or worse, not really even functioning properly therefore, not all the images you took even are recoverable.

I'll sell you a pinto and spay paint a bmw logo on it and charge you lexus prices. If you're being sold Sandisk Extreme cards, you should expect sandisk extreme, not an off brand. I can choose to buy an off brand and then expect to pay off brand prices.

Just because it works does not mean that its made to the same standards and works at the same speed. It's deceit short and simple.

Not all eBay sellers are crooks. I just bought a Transcend 8gb class 10 card 2 weeks ago and it is 100% genuine and as advertised.

That seller is sold out but I will give you the link anyway. I checked on the Transcend website and put in my serial number of the card and Transcend send me info that this is a genuine card. What more can I say. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com …3D&viewitem=#ht_616wt_905 (external link)

Amazon is probably the best place to buy memory cards. Newegg is also good. I always prefer to pay a little more and try to avoid ebay for such items. Ebay is great for getting some specialized hobby things, but is most certainly not the best place to buy electronics ... unless the seller is a well known store with a physical location, it really becomes a crap shoot.

I've just found this thread AFTER I ordered my Sandisk 16GB Extreme II for £59 on Ebay. Had no idea about these "fake" cards.

I've ordered it from this person: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk …&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT (external link)

Does this look fake to you?? It's hard to tell.

I read somewhere that a fake card will come with a 5 year warrenty but this one gives you a lifetime one.. or maybe they're just saying that.

If it arrives and it's fake I'm making sure I get a refund and I'll just go out and buy it from a store to be safe.

Just got conformation that Komputerbay sold me a fake SanDisk card.

I bought it through Amazon and they are going to make things right. Just thought I would give a heads up so other people don’t go through the trouble.

Look at the pictures here:
