There is a huge market in fake items on Ebay. I tried to buy my kids a 'rainbow art' set on there. It's just some solid paint blocks and some foam brushes, which you can paint with.

They are usually an overpriced £20 for the real thing. There is a sticker on saying 'as seen on tv'. The fake ones say 'similar to as seen on tv'. They sell for about £3, but are not good quality apparently.

There is also a website selling them (the fakes). I have had refunds from several places after questioning the authenticity.

I am surprised the copyright owners don't sort the issue out, as ultimately, it is they that will lose their reputation and sales.

Ebay are in a difficult position - if a seller says they bought and sold them in good faith, then they really have to accept that. Maybe is should be three strikes and you're out, but they just start afresh.

Buyer beware. Maybe ask the question directly through Ebay as to whether they 'know' the cards are genuine before you purchase. It will help your case if they are not.

I purchased a Canada Goose Expedition jacket off ebay and it was a knock off from China. The seller swore it was real, even had sales tags. When I got it it was too small
(go figure) Tried to sell it back on ebay and was contacted by Canada Goose company inquiring why I was selling this and were I got it from so I called the company and after talking to the customer service lady who's sole job is to protect the company idiots like I baught off selling fakes of there products. Last Christmas I ordered the real thing from a repitable dealer and what a difference in the real thing. Hell the fake I got used cat hair around the hood. I guess it all comes down to "you get what you pay for"

From what has been said so far in the thread, it sounds as if Sandisk are tightening up on the fakes, by moving the serial number (well, it's more like a batch code) onto a hologram. A web page where they show the different sorts of genuine markings with dates they were used would be useful.

I realise photos of holograms can be difficult - but can anyone post pictures of the new style Sandisk hologram labels?

David

I have been using this for a while now with no problems

the ones pictured on that auction are identical to the fake one i received so i would say yes it's fake.

I inadvertantly won an auction for a fake one myself. I realized right after I bid (hopped on ebay, saw it ending for $10 with 1 minute left, won for $11). I contacted the seller afterwards and tried to see if she could verify authenticity but she gave me the runaround. I told her I wasn't going to pay and she said fine, but 2 weeks later she filed an unpaid item claim.

The seller is infofashion, and she has a ton of fake card listings, for Sony MemorySticks as well.

Hello,

i have bought on Ebay 3 month ago a Sandisk SD card 2GB ( blue model ).
Works well but the serial number seems strange :

BE0605xxxxxxB
MADE IN CHINA

10 numbers !!!

I have a Sandisk CF Extreme III, bought on classic store, the serial as less digit : BE05xxxYB

( i have replace some numbers by xx )

Does i have a reason to be worry ?

didnt see this thread until today. i have unfortunately pretty much given up on ebay. I used to buy/sell all the time. wont sell anymore because the fees keep going up, and wont buy much because of all the fraud.

never thought i'd see 'counterfeit' sandisk cards though!
