Howdy,
I just got burned by this, though not through Ebay but through a vender with a PriceGrabber storefront.
http://www.pricegrabber.com …id=5541576&lot_id=3044297
Note that when I bought the card it was about $20 under B&H's price ($149.99)... I.e. it wasn't stupidly cheap enough to raise flags to me.
SanDisk confirms that the serial number on the card isn't one of their products:
The serial number on the back of the 4gb card says:
"JG-CF4GB-SMSL4-0622"
I also have an Ultra II 2GB card, which _does_ have a serial number on the back that starts with a "B".
So I take it this confirms that I have a counterfeit CF card? SanDisk Log me into my eBox: (07/23/2006 03:26) Hello Mark,

SanDisk Technical Support My advice is to _only_ buy from an established store you've dealt with before. B&H, Adorama, etc.
Adding further insult to injury, PayPal won't even let me file a dispute against the transaction unless I open an account with them. Of course, I already _have_ an account with them, with all the same information. But, because I wasn't logged into the account when I paid this scamming f*cker, the payment doesn't show up. Their resolution is for me to close the current account and open a new one with the exact same information. It was unclear to me how in the heck that would pick up the payment.
_My_ resolution is going to be to dispute the charge with my credit card company and possibly with PriceGrabber. I did send the lying pigf*cker a request for a refund through PriceGrabber, but doubt I'll hear much of anything.
Mark
(btw, the card does 'work'... I was using it the past few weeks before I saw this thread. But I wanted a SanDisk Ultra II card and paid for one... Not some random POS card.)
