I have recently purchased a 1D MKII N and a new macbok pro. When you put the canon digital solutions disk in the macbook it simply spits it out. Canon were very unhelpful and just told me that they could not guarantee compatibility with intel macs! Surely this is not the case? There must be a way around this. All I realy want to do is to use the "camera window" application to change a few of the camera settings and add my name to the camera settings. Does anyone else have his problem?

That stinks. Unfortunately it may be an "early adopter" problem that will only be fixed in time with an update. But.....I don't see why the processor would be a problem. I am running the lastest version of Mac OS and I don't have any problem. It is not like you are running a special version of the OS.
Good luck,
Rob

I'd try installing the Parallels demo (www.parallels.com (external link)) and setup a windows virtual machine, more than likely you could make the changes from within the VM. If it works out it'll set you back $50-80 depending on if they're still running the promo but it's a pretty useful piece of software. If you're only looking to make a couple of changes and then you can hold off for true MacTel support you can probably just trash it all once you're done and not pay for anything.

better yet, just buy a win xp pro install disk, use boot camp, and enjoy your mactel laptop in the way it was meant to be... camera window runs perfectly on win xp ;)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

BootCamp works quite well also, I just find Parallels to be a much less intrusive method of running windows. The speed really is a close match provided you're not doing anything exceptionally intensive (3d) graphics wise.

P.S. If you've seen the new "Get a Mac" commercial on Apple.com you'll notice even Apple seems to be pushing Parallels over BootCamp.

I'd just get Aperture since you've got a Pro, but that's just me, and I don't know much.

5D III, 24-70L, 85L II, 100mm Macro, Apple gear... too much.

I'm pretty sure Aperture doesn't allow you to change the settings like the Canon software does.
