It's a hoverfly of some sort. Nice shot, nice pose and composition. Was flash used, or natural light (looks like natural light to me)?

Interesting! You got reasonably good DOF out of f4. I'd have been tempted to bump up the ISO to 400 and the aperture to f8 myself!
