Can anyone tell me the difference between Lexar's High Speed Series and Lexar's Platinum line? I use a 20D.

i would avoid lexar, they are an established company but there have been reports of failures and slow read/write times.

id stick with Sandisk Ultra II/III
and im very happy with the transcend 1gb i have now as well.

Lexar is just fine. They had a batch that had problems, but were quick to replace. I have used Lexar exclusively in the Rebel, 10D, 20D, and 30D...

I believe Lexar makes pretty good memory cards, but I have heard of people having problems with Lexar cards in Canon cameras. Personally, I stay with Sandisk Ultra II.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but I too use a Lexar CF card (40x) and have had no problems as well.

I have a 20D with a Lexar 80x WA card... ~12k shots on the one card... -0- issues.

Although Lexar is pretty good, Id stick to Sandisk. After all, they originally specified and produced Compact flash.

I avoid Lexar since a very bad experience with them a while ago. There was a quality issue with a card reader I bought from them (can happen to any company, I am not complaining about that) but they refused to answer my emails and letters. This is a big no-no for any company taking themselves serious, so since then I avoid them at all costs.

I also have Sandisk Ultra II and Extreme III cards and these are fast, reliable and not too expensive.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I made a few calls today to B&H (where they were purchased) and also Lexar. Both of them said that the Lexar Platinum line replaced what was originally called High Speed series. About a year ago I had bought 2 H-S cards and have had very good luck with them and wanted to add a couple of more cards. My wife ordered 2 Lexar CF 40x 1GB cards from B&H and when they arrive yesterday, they appeared and were packaged differently from the ones I had originally AND they were Lexar PLATINUM CF cards. It threw us off a little bit and we wanted to make sure we were getting what we wanted. Turns out they are the same thing but with new packaging and a new look. Thanks again to all for your responses!
