Couldn't resist the deal from Adorama. 2GB Platinum II 80x CF card for $80 and a $24 rebate. Looked like a good deal. Never used Lexar before, and with so many mixed review on Lexar, I really need that luck ;)

I have a Lexar 80x. It's perfectly fine, no problems at all.

I have two Lexar professional series cards. A 1GB (older style label)and a 2GB (newer style label). I use them all the time, and have had no problems with them.
Maybe that's because I didn't know there was supposed to be problems with them.

Now I think, it wasn't a bad bargain after all  Let me see how long that $24 rebate takes.

I"ve used Lexar on my old HP digicam. I've given that cam to my son with the CF and he has yet to complain.

I think the problems were with the Rebel XT and maybe the 20D not sure if the issues were with other cameras also.

You are right. It is always so bad for a company's reputation when they have to recall an entire batch!

I've had a couple of 512Mb Lexar 80x cards for over a year now and have had no problems. I do tend to use my 1Gb Sandisk ones now though but only because they are bigger cards.

I use two Lexar pro 2 GB cards with my 20D and have a couple of older 512 MB Lexars for backup and never had any problems with them, even pre-firmware upgrade. Since the firmware upgrade last year I haven't heard of any other problems, although I understand why people are skittish about Lexar now.

I have several Lexar pro cards and have never had a problem. I wouldn't worry.

That boosts my confidence a lot.

Is there a difference between Type I and Type II cards apart from thickness? For instance is the performance better in one over the other?
