Very nice work. We only have plain brown squirrels here...

very nice shots Ian of our only native squarrel (theres still a good number up in the north of Scotland)
sadly over much of the rest of the Uk they have been eaten out of house and home by their introduced American gray cousins :(

Beautiful shot of the red squirrel that is becoming rarer these days.
Great colour and detail in the shots.

Thanks all for the kind comments :)

ChemicalBro, yes they are only found in 2 or 3 places wild in England now, i think Scotland has more locations than we do at the moment, but they are dwindling because of the grey's ! :(

Nice one Ian - that is my home turf!! :) If you go back I can point you in the direction of a great spot away from the paths where the squirrels come right up close if you have the patience to wait for them.

Lovely pictures, the red squirell has a certain charm, and it's a terrible shame that they only exist in small pockets now. My Dad lives in the Scottish borders away from town and has red squirells, stoats, weasels, deer, badgers, foxes and numerous assorted birds including buzzards in his garden and surrounding fields and doesn't even have a camera. Well so he tells me, I havn't seen any of the mammals on that list while up there, but it is a 1500 mile round journey so don't get up there very often.

but I really must take issue with you on one thing, raindrops in the background! in Manchester! can't believe that! I reckon you added them in Photoshop.:)

Lovely squirrels Ian. I particularly like the first shot, the red colour of it's coat is fantastic. We saw some red squirrels a few weeks back in Kielder forest but it was pretty dark so far from ideal for photography but it was still amazing to see them in the wild given their increasing rarity. Formby Point sounds like it's the place to go to get some good shots.

I have literally had red squirrels walking on my feet and legs at Formby. If you get away from the main path and sit still then you are in Red squirrel heaven.

If and when you do let me know and I'll give you an idea of the best areas to try out. There's a great beach there too.
