$3999 for a 1Ds mark II (It's probably a 1DMKIIn)

This is getting silly. Orders are not shipping, unless they ship everything at the end of the day. No one has received a shipped email. Mine was supposed to ship today and the order stands stagnant.

If you go to Apple and check your order it says 1DMKIIn.

No one is getting a 1Ds.

I think we all know it's a mistake, but yet are hoping for a DS........I know I am. It's just sad how little Apple really knows about this..........that or the others are just posting negitive info, because every time I have called they tell me it's a Ds. And I have called 3 times. Now I see someone over at FM has posted a "so called" email from Apple that basically says they made a mistake and will gladly process the order as the Mk2N. But why would they say that? And also say "reply IF you want to cancel". That makes no sense.......yea just go ahead and process my order for something I didn't order". That's one of the dumbest things I have ever heard! Yes I bought the Chevy, but it's OK if you just send me the Ford......LOL. Either someone really stupid wrote that email or it's fake.........that's my 2 cents.


.........but at least it's been exciting......kinda like rolling the dice at Vegas, Except I have nothing to lose.....LOL.

Well I got a verbal comfirmation that it was shipped, but yes your right, no email (of shipping). God these guys are clueless!

So, did you go to apple.com/orderstatus to see if it really did ship or not?

Yea I just checked that..........not shipped. That's why I said their clueless, I just checked the order status AFTER he told me it was shipped. Too funny..........and I thought Dell's Customer service people were bad.

Like RFM said, nobody's getting one.......and it is funny.....in a sad kinda way.

And oh yea, I asked him where it was coming from because the first guy told me So Cal. So he say's......it's coming from Tenn, I asked him "are your sure"? Then he say's "wait....no actually It's coming from Fulerton" (So Cal)

Who knows......LOL

Apple is making Dell look like B&H...

I just don't think Apple is used to this demand on a non-apple product and when this missed marked the price and or product I don't think they expected this high demand..

I just talked with my rep. When all this started they only had two cameras in stock. They now have 99 orders and I'm 24th on the list. He says they are ABSOLUTELY shipping the 1Ds and not the MKII. He has been keeping an eye on my order because he's also curious to see how this pans out. He confirmed this information earlier today with his supervisors, sales and supply personell.

I'll still believe it when I see it.

Guess Tomorrow will tell...

Hmmm, that's really curious. If Apple only had two cameras in stock to begin with, I wonder how were they able to estimate a delivery date of June 26 for the 3rd and later orders that came in. I thought their online order system was inventory driven.

It's going to be interesting how this all plays out in the next couple of days.

That for sure, Leo. Little about this makes sense. However, my rep was positive this was going to happen, and I was straight up with him that this was likely an error, but also that it's getting close to the time when Canon will reduce the price of this camera to introduce a new one.

An example of how clueless the Apple sales reps are, the one I talked to today said yes, he could confirm my order for a Canon 1Ds MKII Printer???? Then he apologized and said that it was a 1DMKII N and they only had a limited number of 1Ds MKII cameras for sale and those were gone quickly. When I asked to talk to his supervisor she told me they never had the 1Ds MKII and it was N all along and was I willing to cancel at this time. I said no just send the order as originally planned.

It is a VERY interesting issue. If Apple makes good on this - they are one class act. If there really are 99 orders - they are out a bunch of money. Even at cost from Canon they stand to lose 300k give or take. Everyone who got the camera should go buy an IPod immediately just as an act of mercy!

If they don't, and rely on some fine print somewhere, my guess is that they will send out a "discount coupon" of some sort... maybe a 100 free iTunes?? Something like that.

Don't get me wrong.. I really wish I had seen the thread on time!! If it comes true, maybe one of you "winners" will take mercy on a poor XT owner and offer him a 5D at a ridiculously low price.. just to even the karma out. I am only trying to be helpful by volunteering..

I will offer a 1DsMKII at a very fair price....Yeah there will be competition, and if too robust I just may keep the damn thing. To pay $4k for a $7k flagship Canon camera is unheard of.

It's a biz writeoff anyway, so it's all good!

The suspense is absolutely killing me. I'd s*** myself if everyone got the 1DsMkII.
