I just got off the phone with the order department and he assured me that it was the
1dsmkII as shown on the site. So I quickly whipped out the card and ordered one. The first confirming email I received showed the 1dsmkII, but the second one I received showed the 1dmkIIn. I called back to the same person I ordered it through and he confirmed that they would be shipping the 1dmkII. Same story as some of you.
But still too stoked for words!!!

Also the part number "9443A002" is the same on Canon's site for the 1Ds.

Good catch there Ipac...

Again, I pushed my rep through the hoops. Eventually told him straight out that this could be a price glitch, which he had figured out by that time talking with techs and webmasters. He didn't care one way or the other at that point.

However, after it all ended, he said that the camera I purchased was INDEED the 1DsMKII. He did see there was a price problem, but that if it shipped, then life is good, if not, then return it if you don't want it. He did note, with confirmatiob of the Apple techs that they DO NOT stock or sell the 1DMKIIn.

One thing Apple CANNOT do is ship the camera and charge you $7000. They cannot increase the price without authorization.

Kevin, go to apple.com/OrderStatus and take a look at what item is listed there for your order. If it's like my order, it'll be the mkIIN

I called Apple customer service and asked them to note in my order that I want the 1DsmkII but NOT the 1DmkIIN so they should cancel the order if, in fact, the item being shipped is the N. The guy I talked to didn't know what was really shipping so they'd have to sort all that out first.

Well, that's reassuring, Jim. I don't mind them calling the camera a 1DmkIIn in their invoice as long as what they really ship is the 1DSmkII. :D

We shall see. No one yet has reported a shipped camera.

Just saw this thread.
If I was over there I would be putting my order in ASAP. That's a potential saving that is definitely worth a bit of stuffing around.
Oh how I wish they shipped internationally.:(

Jim,

With all due respect, employees in a call-center are clueless (first-hand experience). For all they know, 1Ds's are shipping. It's Order Fulfillment in the warehouse that will actually know what's shipped.

I still think it's either a typo on pricing for the 1Ds or they did start carrying the "N" but they didn't input the correct info into their system when it was received from Canon.

Peace

I have so been there and done that. I was not dealing with some underpaid, unkowning dweeb. Blah blah blah. We both knew and talked about the warehouse order-pickers, etc. Blah blah blah. We both agreed that it might be a price snafu, but the order CAN NOT be shipped at a higher price without being confirmed by the buyer.

I am not new.:p

I did exactly that Leo and it did say the mkIIN...so I called SC again and they said that I will be getting what I ordered. I said you mean the 1dsmkII and she said yes. I told her that if I received the 1dmkIIN that I would be returning it and she said that's fine. I did print out the apply store site just for the heck of it.

My rep also said to print the order and save it.

No worries - it's all good. I just don't believe what order reps say over the phone.

:D

I believe my rep provided me with the most accurate information available to him. And I forced him through some hoops he didn't want to jump.

I'd give us 30% chance we get the 1DsMKII.

30% is pretty damn good chances considering the fact that you either save or make $3000 depending on what you are going to do with the camera...

I checked out Apple website, and the camera is "unavailable" at this time. Moreover, I called them, and got the answer that the item was temporary sold. I guess I was too late. Otherwise I would have ordered as many as I could load on 20K credit card. I am curious to hear what will happen with the placed orders.
Good luck to those who placed the order!!
