Edit: Title was going to be : Big Buzzer!

This morning I came across the biggest fly I have ever seen, easily 1.7mm long. It made a deep buzzing sound when it was in the air. Flyzilla!!! As you can see, it dwarfs the oranges ;)

Great pictures Bea but do you mean 1.7 cm as 1.7mm isn't really all that big.

Where is my head today:oops: Must be having my 3 kids home for the summer. You better be prepared then, this is going to be a looooong 3 months

Yes, 1.7 cm! Glad you asked, I have seen plenty of miniscule flies lately. Nothing big around here besides katydids and my kids.

Nice shots Bea, I noted the 1.7mm comment as well ;) That's one big fly!

The 1st shot you just missed focus on, the 2nd one you nailed pretty good, and the 3rd one missed focus on the eyes again.

Ha, you noticed too! And you noticed the focusing problem the actual size caused me: the first shot was actually my first and I didn't know how my fly was going to react. I really "liked" the hairs on the back so I took a wishy-washy attitude and focused a little bit further back. In the last shot (literally, again) my eye was getting tired. I want one of these digital viewfinder LCDs!!! Wonder if anyone is using these ;) But seriously, the XT's viewfinder is very small!

Ahh. Fair enough! As to the viewfinder size on the XT, I think you'll find the same problem on any of the non professional Canon DSLR bodies. Going from a D60 to a 1D demonstrated the viewfinder issue quite dramatically. The viewfinder on the D60 drove me absolutely crazy, especially since I'd come from nearly 7 years of using a 1n.
