I was messing around with my 50mm f1.8 yesterday. I liked the way this one came out.

if you don't want to use the flash or bump the ISO extremely high. Then 1.8 has to be used; there for you lose the depth of field... Besides the eyes are tack sharp. The eyes my friends are the soul of the Greyhound..... Of course I have 3 so I am little partial....

I rather like the DOF. The focus is right on "The Windows of the Soul".

I was experimenting with the new lens at wide open aperature. I've never had a 1.8 lens so i wasnt sure just how small the DOF would be. I did intentionally focus on the eyes and knew the rest of the face would be out of focus. Thats one reason why I liked it so much.

The photo was taken in RAW, without a flash, 1/13s @ f1.8 ISO 200. I had the bottom of the camera (grip) sitting flat on the floor for support. The photo came out very dark and brown-ish from the low lighting in there and was edited in photoshop. I took a couple more with a flash but they did not come out nearly as nice as this one.

Thank you for all the comments.
