Hello,
I know this is very ODD for a Digital Photography Forum, but it's worth a shot. I am in search of some 4x5 Film holders that are in a good usable condition. I have a tiny budget - I'm a self supporting person who lives with a disability. Way back in college I cobbled together a Busch Pressman 45D outfit. I haven't used it in a very long time. Anyway, I was showing some of my pictures at work and it turns out one of my coworkers used to be a corporate photographer. He has given me a box of old ektachrome he's kept in the freezer for me to go shooting. My problem is film holders - most of the ones I have weren't all that reliable back then and have fallen apart at this point. I only have 2 modern holders at now and who wants to go shooting with only 4 shots! Anyway, if you have some you might part with for a nominal sum - let me know. Heck if you have any old lenses or doo dads you might part with at a giveaway price range I'll see if I might find a few bucks somewhere. I cross posted in WTB section, but wanted to hit the pro forum as well. Hope that's okay.
Sincerely,
Richard W.:)
PS: I just realized I don't have a Film Changing Room or Bag anymore (I miss College).. sigh.. I'll figure something out.

Perhaps to a little research for yourself ????

A quick look on the UK Ebay site revealed 37 sellers of approx 90 DDS (Double Dark Slides), so I would guess that Ebay in the US will have even more. These items are not rare, every second hand dealer I know stocks them.

Well, it was good enough for Ansel Adams? :D
I'd be a bit leary of the Ektachrome, depending on the ISO & time it's been frozen. Shoot one test shot with a sheet that is on the end & see what you get. If it's not OK, try one from 3-4 sheets in.

Hi All,
Thanks for the responses. I have shockingly discovered a second "stash" of holders I had - I have no memory of them, but there was another decent one in the swirl of worn out antiques! :-) I'm up to 6 pix. I am shockingly uninformed on the life and habits of Ansel Adams - my College did focus pretty hard on his techniques, the program was headed by one of his former assistants. In retrospect it was centered pretty heavily on craft and images flowing outwards from that. But that is neither here nor there. My personal habits when I go shooting is to have some large blocks of time and a likely area, areas, or event that would likely yield images that would be personally satisfying to me and once I start shooting, I tend to shoot til film or time runs out. :-)
Sincerely,
Richard W.
