Ok I think I've finally decided what DSLR set up I want.
This is about a year or slightly more away...so dont try and sell me your crud! Just wondering if this is a good set up, or anything you would suggest instead? But i'm set on the body, so no suggestions there please. Unless you think a 5D of the same age will be less?
(All Used unless otherwise noted)

EOS-1D Mark II (non-N)
16-35 f/2.8L
50mm f/1.4
70-200 f/4L
Two or three 1GB memory cards
Tamrac Adventure 7 Backpack

I will be shooting mostly travel and lanscapes.

I don't think I can afford it. Aren't they much more than the f/4? I dunno I'll scope it out and see.

EDIT: Yeah the f/2.8 is over a thousand, the f/4 can be had used for $5-600, so If I feel i need the extra later, I mgiht trade up.

You might take a look at this thread

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=184768

a lot of 1D owners are trading to 5D's.

that thread has only 4 posts so i wouldn't call it "a lot". also, that thread is talking about the original 1Ds while the op here is talking about the 1DmkII.

Looks like a very nice setup! Personally, I would change the 16-35 with the 17-40, and use the money saved to upgrade the 70-200 to a 2.8.

By the way, I love the 8-ball shot on your gallery!

and i fourth it!

if the wide is being used mainly for landscapes then it will be stopped down most of the time, so no need for f/2.8.
