s3 close up shots

hi there need help just got my new canon s3is having trouble taking close up shots on the{ auto mode} camera wont focus:confused: im new to this its my first digital camera ive bought any help would be great thanks im not an expert i just need to know the basics thx :wink:

Well, not sure about the S3 but the my S1 has no problem focusing for close-ups. You're not zooming for these close-ups are you? When I first started using this camera I tried this but you just get past the focal range of the camera. Maybe someone with a little more experience with the S3 will chime in.

I can't see the picture...make sure its under 100k in size. If the S3 is like the S1, it can take great macro shots but you'll need to get farely close to do so. The S1 can focus up to about an inch away. Still works you just have to get that much closer.
