Its been long time since I post any message here. well, I just recently shot picture of my new swiss watch. I have digital rebel XT with sigma 70-200mm lens. I used ISO 400 at autofocus and built-in flash unit.
Can you guys give me some tips how to shoot closeup? what kind of macro lens should I buy?

You can shoot it with the kit lense if you set it up right. There are several threads on how to make difusers to evenly light the product. Most of these setups usecommon (cheap) household items such as opaque tuuperware type food storage containers and chepa lighting. You will probably need a tripod also. Th search should give you more than enough thrads to do a great job.

p.s. That is a sweet looking timepiece. I bought a Breitling Aviator watch a few years ago, but almost got mugged ( I mean like a lead pipe swung at my head) for it the first night I wore it out. I sold it a few days later..

Try using tubes if you want a versatile set up, i.e., if you don't want to buy a dedicated macro lens, or don't have the money for it, or foresee yourself shooting macro from time to time. However, if you think macro is your thing then the Canon EF 100mm, Sigma 105 or 150mm, or Tamron 90 are great lenses.

That should work well with a 70-200. I've had good luck with the "L" version.

A walk by the river.

extention tubes http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ghType=categoryNavigation (external link)

They allow you to focus close then what your lens normally does.

I'm at a loss for suggestions, but I'd love to see some close-ups of that Oris. They're a damn fine watch.

My company gives an Oris to every employee who reaches the ten-year mark. I've only got eight more years to go!

It looks like an impressive timepiece to be sure, but . . .
I can't imaging why one would want to wear such a HUGE watch. It has got to be a burden, and extremely easy to bash it into things.
