I have been doing professional photography for about 7 years now but don't have any professional memberships such as the PPA, etc. I was wondering what people thoughts and experiences have been with such professional organizations and if they are really worth the money.

I have not run into any clients that insisited on a professional membership, has anyone else.

Thanks

It has been my experience that clients don't care what memberships you hold or if you have a bunch of fancy letters after your name. It's the end result that makes the difference in what you deliver to them.

The only thing that is worth it to me is CPS (Canon Professional Services) which has some inherent value for me.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Thanks,

youll need the professional strap by canon then LOL. they dont make them anymore so its like 400bucks.

its like an unsaid rule in japan that if anyone has these, you better move and give up your position. especially at places like car shows.

thanks for the input... This is what I was thinking, but every now and then I hear some strange things. Those membership fees seem quite steep to say... I belong to something and most don't even monitor quality, etc.

you guys laugh all you want, but its really rare and you have to be a CPS member and meet all these qualifications to obtain that strap. i used to laugh at it too, but after seeing how serious everyone in japan takes with those ppl with that strap, i stoppedmaking fun of them.
