Does any one know the rate of duty charged on photo accessories, into the UK.
I know Vat is chargeable at17.5%

Duty on lenses is 6.7%
But I dont know about tripods and heads.

Terry,

take a look here:
http://takeoneonion.org …g_camera_equipment_i.html (external link)

There's a link to the TARIC database that lists various goods classifications for import duties, but I was not able to find something remotely similar to 'tripod' in the time I was willing to dedicate to the effort

Best regards,
Andy

some cameras, some lenses,
and still a lot of things to learn...

There's a duplicate thread here, where I've given an answer that I hope is correct. As Andy says, nothing like tripod appears in the database - I think you have to think more laterally than that.

I have found some further Routes into the Taric Mire. Relating to Digital equipment.

Digital cameras come under 8525000000 These have a Duty of 0%

Parts suitable for use solely or principally with the apparatus of headings Nos 8525 to 8528 Come under 8529000000 These are also rated at 0%

You could accurately describe the nodal Ninja as a “panoramic head part for digital cameras”
Though it is possible to use it with film cameras, its principal use is as a part to enable digital cameras to make accurate digitally stitched Panoramas.
As a percentage the number of people using these to stitch scanned film is minute.

It would seem that it would be worth using this Taric code and description, as it is the exact equivalent of the code used relating to film camera parts.
