Nice looking plant, did you intend to have such a shallow depth of field.:-)

I did, yakbut. I had to shoot at a downward angle because the flowers grow almost horizontally. The cluster of flowers was pretty low to the ground and I wanted the grass blurred. I found more DOF created a distracting bg and I actually like it this way.

Nice photo. I keep going back and forth in my mind as to whether I would prefer to see the other flowers in focus as well. But as you say, Bea, the greater DOF would probably have a negative impact on the background blur.

Very nice. I like the DOF in this shot. If it were mine, I'd frame it and hang it front and center.

Love it. What setting did you use? My Macro work leave a little to be desired.

Tony: I'm so glad it was a pleasant surprise. I know the title would be misleading but that's what it said on the label ;) Thanks for your nice comment!

Kim: I took this shot with my 70-200 at 160mm. f4 @ 1/640sec, ISO 400. Come on over to the macro forum, you'll learn a lot there. Careful though, it is addicting!
