i am going on a cruise to alaska and have my 70-300mm telephoto/macro lens for animals and flowers but no landscape lens and no extra cash for it. i do however have my kit lens, 18-55mm. any suggestions on shooting landscapes with the kit lens?

It likes f/8, f/11 is better. You should be able to achieve that up until at least midnight. The darkest it got in Fairbanks when we were there was dusk. You could read a newspaper without artificial light. Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.

I never use tripods on holiday, it's too much trouble - i'm there on holiday not on assignment. Which Cruise Line? If your headed to Whittier, Alaska, there's a nice eagles nest near the ship. The eagles are always buzzing the ship in the afternoon. Rebel T4i 18-55 IS Kit Lens
