Hiya Alan,
That an amazing shot, was that taken through double glazing??? if so how did you manage to avoid the flash from reflecting badly, the reason I ask is 'cause I've tried a couple of shots at night through my patio door & all I get is flash back, mind you the missus ( Ami ) was pleased 'cause I washed the windows to see if that would make a difference, did it, ha hell no lol.

here's a shot to give a sense of scale (I know my hands are dirty but i was just home from work, and it was fluttering around against the kitchen window trying to escape...... after i got a few shots i let it go )

RM. I may be wrong but I seem to remember something about Rosebay Willow Herb & these moths or their caterpillars don't know if that'll help in tracking em down

I agree it is a VERY beautiful moth...

I'd say it's even better looking than most butterflies.

I'd like to have one in a frame...the bug that is! If you ever find any dead ones in good condition let me know!

Apparently they're not that uncommon. If you have honeysuckle it'll attract them on warm nights. Those are beautiful shots.
