hi everyone...newbie here! just got my 50mm 1.4 about a week ago and i've been reading about the AF problems that some people are having.....so i tried focusing on different things to see if mine was ok...then i was trying to focus on a white wall and it wasn't focusing...it kept trying to but it couldn't and i wasn't sure if that was normal since it's a white wall and if the camera just doesn't know where to focus since there's no contrast..or is there actually anything wrong with mine? When i try to focus on things that are high in contrast then it works but when it's a more monochromatic scene...(or a bare white wall) it seems to have a hard time..is this normal?

the center AF point is always the strongest.. and no its not going to focus if you put it on a plain white wall as you said the AF looks for contrast.. so look for contrast and check it out.

try getting a ruler and shoot at different apertures doing a focus test to see if its front focusing or back focusing. my 50 1.4 has awesome AF and is tack sharp, even at 1.4

My wifes Jalepeno is starting to grow, so I took a picture of it.
