really sharp pic Comet, just be careful with oversharpening. when you oversharpen, a halo effect tends to form on the objects in the photograph. In this case, it's the right side (facing photograph) of your head. On my screen I can see a halo separating your face from the wall in the background.

tyty, still trying to improve as im still new to photography(just 3 months). But can you show me what these "halos" look like in the photograph. like zoom in on the picture or something. thxx

This picture was NOT taken with the nifty fifty (I usually shoot with my nifty fifty and post here). I had to post it because it's the first time I've pulled out my manual lenses since I got my 5d and I used to my Vivitar 28-90 f/2.8-3.5 and I am really impressed on the clarity. I think I'm going to keep it on for awhile (which means I prob will be away from here for a bit).

Here's my Jan 8 pic for my 2010 project (basically 365 blog). It's around 50mm.

I don't use this lens very often since I have my Tamron 28-75. But here is the last i've taken with it.

see where there is a bright "highlight" separating your head from the background? that's haloing, which results from oversharpening. It gives the subject a "glow".

It's no biggie. I did the same thing when I started out, just something to watch for. :-)

I got bored last night and whipped out the nifty fifty to take a couple shots of my pocket watch.

Don't we all wish we could look this good when we hit 124 years old? :-)

still running strong. ticks 5 times per second, so that adds up to 432,000 ticks in a 24 hour period  I'm not even going to try and attempt to figure out how many ticks that is over 124 years

Thanks, that's my everyday wear watch :-P

ok, I'm a nerd....that thing ticks 157,680,000 times in 1 year.

on a side note....found this interesting fact:

Average heartbeat which is just an average number is 72 beats per minute.

72beats*60mins*24hrs*365.25days= 37,869,120 beats in a year.
