A little jam session at a local hookah lounge I happened to have my camera with. 350D and nifty... its a decent combo, but the crop is killing me in spaces like this. I wanted to have the entire guitar player in focus and the drummer out of focus. Given the constraints of the room, this is all I could muster.

Im starting to wonder... would the 1.3 crop from a 1DmkII, would it be enough or should I just go FF. Or I would just buy a UWA lense and be done with it...

I doubt it. Think I'm getting the Canon 50mm 1.4 ;)

Nice move up! But I'm kind of curious about why. You want brighter, or sharper? I'm guessing the latter, but the MTFs for this one are really high... Why not another prime like the 85 or the 135 to expand your tools, and then come back for a better 50 later?
Just curious...

I dislike the hunting with the 1.8, hoping the 1.4 will be better...hell everything about the 1.4 seems to be better than the 1.8. Plus, 50mm, is about as prime as I want to be right now. I'm barely use my 50mm now just because of missing focus in low light and it's a pain. Also, the 1.4 isn't really that expensive at all and I feel it's justified.

Very nice pic. One question did you have a polarizer on? I am still debating the idea with my 50.

Nope no filters, just used on camera flash for fill with a cigarette paper acting as a diffuser.
