Cometz, that's a terrific portrait! Its really rare to see beefcake in these threads. It tends to make North Americans a bit uncomfortable. Seems you are focused on the torso, and then the eyes go to the hands, which are really powerful.
And Joey, that is just awesome...really creative and surreal. I love the engineer looking down! I'm kind of surprised you would entrust such an ambitious pic to the relatively humble nifty.

Haha thanks, if I had a "nicer" 50mm (well I do have the Sigma macro) I would have used it. Looking forward to the day I can buy the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. Hoping that it is sooner than later.

But until then I am trying to get along with the f/1.8 and trying to overcome it's many weaknesses. When its stopped down a little bit and the subject isnt moving its a pretty good lens!

Yes, it does - if someone caught me looking at this at work, guess what they would think...

Can't visit this thread at work until it goes onto the next page...

Haha, i agree it does make us feel a bit uncomfortable, even myself when i take the pics.. but i would never do full nude of any male or female as its against my own ethics.. But besides that i would shoot anything, i mean im here as a photographer to make great pictures, if the person i shoot is happy with them, then i am also.

The whole phobia thing is pretty silly when you stop to think about it. Modern Western notions of art are generally considered to have begun with ancient Greece, and the Greeks worshipped the human form. The David and all those incredible old nude statues. In the Renaissance the focus tended to be on the human body as well. Michelangelo covered the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with nudes--and that's a church! Odd that now it makes us jittery...

I think the 50mm 1.8 is a great opportunity to support your local shop if you live in a decent sized city. My shop was at the lower internet prices on their own.

Huh... I didn't see anything sexual or uncomfortable about cometzx03x shot. It's amazing, technically and aesthetically. In a pic like this, the bad connotations anyone sees in it is a reflection of themselves. For me? I felt like I should be in the gym instead of poking around on a photography forum. lol
