Unlike the 50, I'm pretty sure the 55-250 is a pretty good bet used. A lot of people get it as a kit lens and then decide to upgrade to one of the four 70-200Ls, or a similar 3rd party lens. Actually, I got a 70-200 the day before yesterday, but have somewhat mixed feelings about having done so...Its so much heavier, and I already miss the 55-70 range. Anyway, when I switch from the 50 to the new lens, its like I tied a brick around the front of the camera:cry: Anyway, the 50 is a gem. You'll love it, especially if you want to shoot indoors at night time. Crank it down to 1.8 and look through the viewfinder and its just like you're outside in the sun:cool:

How do I get more of the subject in focus with this lense? It seems to have a narrow focus range, or should I crank the Ap up more?

Looks like you used a low aperture. Start raising the aperture until you get the desired look.

Brules, close down the lens. What I mean by that is change the aperture to read a larger number, such as f/8 or f/11. It's probably best to do this in Av mode if you're just starting out.

Nice ones guys - keep 'em coming.

Sold my T1i recently and picked up a 7D, here are a couple test shots that I first took.

I saw your pics in the T1i thread, nice shots diversity! The PP works well for the urban lifestyle photos.
