It would be far easier to reverse the kit lens onto another lens in the 50 to 100mm range. That way you still have full aperture control of the primary lens without resorting to all that wiring.

The simplest solution is getting hold of an FD or FL mount 50mm lens or even Pentax, Olympus 50mm and mount it via a reverse macro adaptor as such:

You'll need to look into the specific setup carefully though as you will need to consider the ease of varying DOF. There a quite a few discussions on this around the web.
