I'm not super proud of it or anything, but I was fairly pleased with the bokeh that the much-scorned kit lens was able to dish out.

Yes you did get Bokeh - however it seems as if the exposure isnt quite right and the DOF seems very shallow (not all the flower is in focus) - very little detail in the flower itself.
