Went back over to the Eco Museum to see if the Night Herons had hatched out. Ma and Pa NH were still sitting on the nest and in no great hurry to stand up and reveal if the eggs had hatched. Finally they did stand and of course I was fiddleing around with the gear and missed the shot. However, they did reveal that the eggs are still unhatched.
Took a couple of shots anyway.:)

Hey Ma. Close your eyes and maybe that damn photographer will go away. See,it works. I can't see him.

Nice shots, Ian. Is it my imagination or does the 2xTC II work a little better than the 2xTC I with the 300 f/2.8? Sure looks like there's a noticeable difference. :)

BTW, it looks like NH eggs need to incubate for 24 to 26 days before hatching. So, if they were laid about two weeks ago when you first posted pictures of these NH with the eggs, you might have another week to wait yet for the chicks to arrive.

Leo,
I have to agree that the MKII TC is sharper than the MKI version.
The NH's have been sitting for a good 3 weeks now. Hopefully the next time I visit there will be little ones.:)

Very nice captures with the second working nicely with the caption and the first one being an excellent capture of not one but 2 of these fine birds. Nice work!

Nice shots. I guess the ones up north are hatching later then the ones
here. Here they are about ready to leave the nest. I saw one fly from
one branch of the tree to another yesterday.

Man I miss that place. Great shots Ian. Things are working well for you.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Great shots. I've never seen a pair on a nest before. I can't wait for the eggs to hatch!

Excellent captures, in spite of the 2X TC, it appears very clear.
