Thanks very much Brian, I am now working towards natural light. have lowered the output of the flash and changed the angle of lighting. I'm very glad you like this one.:D :D :D :D :D

Good catch BE, it looks like the spider is about to throw the wasp into the depths :)

Nice to see you're having a go with natural light shots ;)

Very nice capture Rick - impressive. As Brian said, lighting looks different, more even with less flash highlights, any change in flash setup? How big was this crab spider btw?

Thanks very much, I've noticed for a while that with flash, you lose some of the subtle shades of color. I've got a ways to go, but hopefully I'll get better at natural light shots.:D :D :D

Thanks Dave, I always appreciate your kind words. Same flash, lower output, different lighting angle, (further away from the subject). this spider was as big around as a quarter.:D :D :D :D

Very nice lighting indeed! :) The DOF is also good so I'm guessing you didn't compromise on aperture. How did you get more natural light then? Longer shutter time / raised ISO ? Did you use manual on the camera and ETTL on the flash with FEV reduced? So many possibilities!

Thanks very much Mike, you nailed it on the head, not longer on the shutter time, but raised ISO and the rest. He was very patient or entirely worn out.:D :D :D ;) :D :D
