Hi all,

Just got my first SLR this week, 30D :) Thought i would get my first post in the macro forum. I have been admiring the work in here for some time and would love to be more active in here. Saving up for the 100 2,8 macro at the moment. Took this one today though and thought I would share. Its not too bad really for the kit lense although i supose strictly its not macro.. C&C welcome, I'm here to learn. Only levels and a bit of USM done..

Welcome to the forums. I hope you're enjoying the 30D is a good camera. In regards to the image, it's hard to say, since the details of the damselfies are smallish, I can't honestly say if it's sharp or not. Is this a crop? If it isn't, try cropping. Crops are used quite a fair bit with most macro shots from my experience (unless you own a mpe-65 and shoot at 5x like a few of the guys here do lol). The lighting and composition are fine, and the bokeh is quite pleasant.

Good shot :)
They are not mating here but have gone on to the egg laying tandem stage.
