Maybe we should try to get all the fireworks shots in one place? Here are mine from Saturday night, July 1st. Tripod, cable release, mirror lock-up, ISO 100, f11 for 8 seconds, RAW.

Nice, my pics dont have anything on yours HAHA. I had problems from the get-go. 1Gig card lock broke so camera couldn't read it, no tripod, and crappy location with power lines there, the fireworks weren't that high. O well.

Handheld? I could have never gotten anything that good with no tripod. Very nice.

Maybe I'll have some good ones tomorrow night, taking my 20D with me on duty.

Hey rescue951: On my 20D I used the mirror lock-up custom function along with the long exposure noise reduction custom function. The only thing with the noise reduction is that it takes as long to run to filter as it does for the exposure. That means, I exposed for 8 seconds, and then waited another 8 seconds for the noise reduction. For every 8 seconds of fireworks exposed I missed 8 seconds of fireworks. Give it a try and make sure you are familiar with both the mirror lock-up and the noise reduction if you choose to use them. Good luck.

Steve535: That is a crazy looking image. 6 seconds handheld is tough.

Wagonwheel, your #1 shot is just beautiful. Maybe I'll have some shots to post after tomorrow night. Off to radio shack to buy a cheapie tripod.

These are some great fireworks shots. I am surprised at well the handheld shots look. Very good work! Tomorrow night there is going to be a big display on the river in downtown Savannah. I am not sure if I will be able to go or not. Keep the shots coming.
