My wife and mine first attempt at post processing, I took this at my daughter's dance recital dress rehearsal, the young lady pictured is one of my daughter's favorite "big girls"....my little one is 6.

we were at Bishop McLaughin HS the lighting was very tough with the built in flash I had to shot at 1600 to get decent exposure...next year it will be the 580ex:grin:

I couldn't see the second linked photo. Could be my computer. But the first shot looks good, real good, considering the limitations you mentioned.
