I just got my first L. Do you think this will be contagious? Maybe I'll just have one. I can quit I tell you, anytime.

So far I love it. Not a whole lot to compare it to, but the AF is so quiet and smooth and the first few shots, AHHH, so nice.

Here's the first, I know it is supposed to be a duck, but my dog will have to do.

Time to put your quantaray on ebay, perhaps? I think you lack something nice and wide and would suggest a 17-40 - you know you want too.....

Thanks steved110, keep the peer pressure going. I have sworn off the L stuff. I know, I know, I know, the L's are so nice, but they are real expensive also. I'll have to wait until, I mean, no more. Ah, an extra wide 17-40L, good choice. I'll have to keep that in mind. I mean quit trying to talk me into things. You guys are terrible, trying to lead me astray.
The Quantary is an inexpensive lens, but it seems to work very well. I have used it for about 6 months and I must admit it is ok for a relatively inexpensive lens. I mainly wanted to get a little more reach, and the IS of the 100-400 is a super bonus. I want to see how it works for me in the real world. I'll probably keep the 70-300 for a walk around lens for a while. Until I feel the need to get that 17-40L, now stop that, I don't need another of the Ls.

Thanks for the comment joe445. They are very nice, at least so far. I went for a walk along the river and took a few shots that I'm going through now. The dog just got in the way. I still have to learn what this lens can do and how to handle it.

This is my first real pic I put on the forum. Does it look fuzzy to you when you view it. After I uploaded it and looked at it it doesn't look anything like the one I uploaded. It seems to me to have a lot of fuzzy artifact looking things all over it. The original was so much clearer. I am wondering if I did something wrong on the upload. I resized it to less than the 800X800 and checked the size. Is there something else I should be doing?

Thanks
Jack

I just make it 600 pixels or so, so that I don't have to skimp on quality. If you're using photoshop, I keep the quality around 7+. That way there's not usually any nasty compression.

So it must look fuzzy to the rest of you also? I'll try that the next post. The photo I uploaded looked so much better. It is like it compressed it more during the upload. Is that possible?

That's a serious lens for a first L. Very nice. As for the posting of pics, I wish one of the moderators or one of the other highly qualified members would make a sticky of how to get the best quality out of the posted pics. You know, resizing and quality and all of that stuff. I have picked up tips here and there on this site but I think a step by step how to do it would be in order. Geez, maybe it's already here and I just haven't seen it. Any mods care to step up?

Congrats on the new "Pump" (100-400L) Great lense, won't hurt the pocket as bad to get the 17-40L which is another great lense.

Congratulations. You're going to find that L's can be very addictive.

Congratulations on the 'L" lens, now you will have to learn how to properly use it. It is a great tool with a lot of ability. I have had mine for seven months and I am still learning.
