I had a few minutes this weekend to walk around the yard with the new Sigma EM-140 flash. There wasn't much bug activity, but I did catch this fellow in a cooperative mood. The flash is really handy, and sure beats the heck out of the old days (before TTL flash metering).

FYI - B&H has the EM-140 for $323 using the psmay discount. Not sure how much longer the code will be usable.

Yes, it should. The Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro has 58mm threads (as does the lens I have, the Sigma 105mm macro). The EM-140 package comes with 58mm and 55mm adapters.

Thanks, Omri. The E-TTL is really something. The old days (i.e., Canon A-1) required calculations and bracketing. Bracketing is still handy, but usually not mandatory anymore. It allows me to just set the camera and focus, then fire and forget. It is so easy to do macro with an E-TTL flash.

It sure does the job. A lot less technical thinking involved, thus more 'focus' thought.

I used to live in your neck of the woods - east Tennessee (Oak Ridge). Colorado's nice, but I sure miss your area.

Hi,
I use the 105 macro but it has a 72mm thread - I was worrying about Vignetting - I cant see anywhere where is says the 105mm and the flash are OK together. Can you help?
