Hey, well I just got my Sigma 17-70mm. could you all take a look and let me know what you think. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy doing macro's all though I can not seem to get real close to things and keep everything in focus.

Please feel free to let me know anything that might help..

Thanks

To do macro the first thing you need is a macro lens, the canon 100 2.8 macro is very good and can also double as a portrait lens. With the macro lens use manual focus, to avoid it hunting. The pics above are nice and sharp.

Did you use a flash? b/c it doesn't look like you did. The flash will make the water droplets really pop, and might help with brighten up the grass and flowers a bit. They seem a little dull. Also, I noticed that you are in the first picture....can you see it? Your reflection/shadow in the sprinkler. If that's what you're going for...COOL!, but if not then it's something to watch out for.

I agree that a macro lens would be VERY helpful for extreme close-ups like these, but you did a good job without.
