captured these two birds on a trip tothe Tidbinbilla Wetlands (south of Canberra) a week ago. Makes a change from trying to shoot the smaller fry while avoiding all that pesky foliage. I liked the first one so much I use dit for my avatar. The teal appears to be doing a dance while it's partner snoozes.

Hi,
funny capture in #1,
IMHO it looks a little soft, perhaps camera shake? also what was your exposure as their white looks a little overexposed,
# 2 is sharper, and you got a good reflection, IMHO a little more room at the bottom for the reflection perhaps would frame him a little better.
Regards,
Clare

The first one is a little soft on my monitor and there are some hot spots on both ducks. Good timing on the capture and it does translate nicely as an avatar. The second shot looks desaturated and I like the mood and detail but whatever is hanging form the duck's mouth is distracting. A lily pad? I would have been tempted to clone it out of the shot or perhaps history brushed it in to the original color , or maybe not.

Thanks for the comments and crit. I agree that No 1 is a bit soft - it was taken at a distance - I mainly posted it because I liked the pose so much. Agree that No 2 could be framed better but that's a skin flap not a lily pad - the Musk Duck is a fairly bizarre looking duck!

That is a great shot of the musk duck, despite the lily pad:)

Good shots. My favorite is the second one of the Musk Duck. :-)

Best regards

Nice shots. The duck dancing in number 1 certainly makes the picture fun, I can see why you are using it as your avatar
