Hello....I currently have an Ultra II Campact Flash 1 gb card for my dig Rebel. While at the electronic store yesterday, I bought a Lexar Platinum 40x speed CF card at an incredible price to be used as a backup.

Here's my question: I know that the Lexar card will store and read slower than the Ultra II. Other than speed, is there any downside to this card?

:)

There should be no problems at all - some people will tell you they've had problems with Lexar, I know someone who had a faulty Sandisk...
I have a couple of 512Mb Lexar (80x) cards and had no problems at all, although in all fairness they rarely get used these days, I tend to use my 1Gb Ultra II's.

I had a lexar 1gb 80x that crapped out but it got replaced under warranty because there was some issue with using it in certain cameras.

But I don't think any other models are affected.

Yes, my two 512Mb cards fell into that catagory, although I had no issues with them, I sent them back 'just in case' and they were both exchanged.
