Nice pics I really like the first two I think the other larva in the closer shot draw the attention away from your subject, too bad

Thanks Omri, you have a point on that shot - I look at a tighter crop.

What do you think of this, I also cloned out some distracting black stuff.

Identification of the foodplant (usually ragwort) would help but I think they're cinnabar moth larvae, and they're distasteful if not poisonous. Apparently an entemologist once proved it by eating one, ewww....

Nice shots, those caterpillars take me back to when I was a kid, we used to collect em & see what they'd turn into, usually an horrible gooey stinky mess, thats kids for you, on the serious side though I've not seen many of these round here for yrs, I fear pesticides are to blame.

Well I suspect most of use macro heads are turning back into kids, on our knees finding bugs.

I spotted these out for walk in a National Trust arbitorium, probably no pesticides.
