When I choose save as I don't get an option for jpeg anymore. Any idea why this may be happening and more importantly how do I fix it??

I was playing with it a bit more. I have the option to save it as a jpeg if I am working with 8 bits/channel but not 16. If I do all my work in 16 and then convert to 8 at the end what am I losing ? Should I just be working in 8 bits all the time? Thanks for helping out everyone

Do your edits in 16 bit if you like but to save as a jpeg you need to convert to 8 bit as you have found out. If you are just a casual user you'll not lose anything noticeable in terms of quality and you'll save around 40Mb per image!!

I save all my "final" outputs at whatever file size i want, 4x6, 8x10, 15x11 and at 300DPI and as jpeg, then save another, full size copy as a TIFF file.. They say Jpegs loose resolution over time but I havent seen it yet and I nkow there have been tests done and it takes a couple thousand "saves" to start degrading an image.. Dont sweat it, I also set the slider to 12, max file size when saving.
