Alright, I just picked one of these up for $165 (there's a little ding on the filter ring...dunno if it'll prevent putting filters on, but for $165 who cares?). I was pretty much expecting to get my money's worth and not particularly like the lens (I have a feeling I'm destined for a 24-105L no matter what) but man...this is a HUGE pleasant surprise so far. Center sharpness is fantastic and the corners, while they leave a bit to be desired, are acceptable. I might actually keep it!

The only problem I have is the variable aperture. I'd REALLY like to be able to do more in the way of subject separation.
