What a gorgeous butterfly and a fantastic photo. I always have such trouble photographing butterflies. Either it's so windy that the flower stem won't stay still, or the butterfly flies off as soon as I'm focussed. Was this taken using a flash?

Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I'll decline..

Nice shot.
There's a similar species in the UK called a green hairstreak.

Thanks all for the very kind words, this was taken mostly with natural light, slight fill-flash. We have been in Rapid City, S.D. for about 2 months now. A fantastic hidden corner of Paradise.:D :D :D

Lovely Butterfly Rick - and very well captured, you've got the subtle tones of the wings perfect!
