5D doesn't focus well in low light? That doesn't sound right, does it? Being the "champion of high ISO performance" and all. I'm not into full frame anyway. 1.3 is a good compromise between the two extremes.

Ya', anecdotal evidence is worthless ... but they, well he actually, was adamant ... I am sure it is a religious thing! :-)

I love my 1D Mark II's but I ran into a wedding photographer couple who traded theirs in for 5Ds because, "the colors were bad with the 1D Mark II's" and they wanted more pixels. I would replace my 20D third/backup body with a 5D but I have heard that they don't focus well in dim light which is a must for me.

I think that the couple was wrong about the 1D II's colors - yes, they were probably more subdued out of the camera (mine were), but they can be adjusted both in-camera and post-processing. I do like the 5D's color rendering better, but it isn't a big difference, and certainly not a non-correctable one. Perhaps the "N" version of the 1D2 with picture styles has color/contrast/brightness selection more like that of the 5D.

In terms of AF in low light, my 5D is very good. When I had both the 1D2 and the 5D, the 5D was more consistent at obtaining focus in low-light situations than my 1D2. The difference was quite small, though. I simply achieved focus lock more frequently with the 5D, while the 1D2 would hunt a bit more often. I'm talking about pretty dark situations, without the benefit of a flash and its AF assist beam.

I wish my Digital Rebel XT would focus better in low light. Oh well, maybe I need to upgrade!!

This is the very reason I don't want to own any "L" glass :D[/QUOTE]

I thought it was against the law to own a 1 series and no L glass.

A 1dmkIIn and 3rd party sigma glass? It must be some kind of moral offense anyway.

All kidding aside though, I would love to have a 1d2n. I do have one question though. You said you may keep the 1d for ego reasons, so then why no L's?

20D/17-40L/tamron 28-75/50 1.8  broke but wanting 70-200 2.8L and 35L:confused:

Oh No !! They've started another "Why I love my 1D" thread ! Just kidding guys. It's not sour grapes. I can afford one and wouldn't have to sell the Mercedes or Rolex to get it, but do you need to bash the 5D while patting yourselves on the back? Makes me think you secretly want one. This rant is done entirely in good humor.;)

Said in jest, but there is so much truth therein!

The one thing you should be happy about is that the full frame tends to expose weaker lens. So the 1.3 crop gives you the best of both worlds! :) I was actually looking at your sale and thinking about it.

Isnt the 5D basically a Full Frame 30D? "But for professionals".

I am so convinced about the 1D series that I am looking to buy a 1D. But you can trade your 5D for a 1Ds here http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/420062#3589875 (external link) or buy it for between $2000-$2500 as I enquired.

Well, sure if you want to look at it on paper. But then you can say a 1D series is just a "pro" 20/30D if you want to. And the 20/30D is a suped up 350D. :)

Isnt a 350D a suped up G6? And a G6 a suped up A series? LOL good point.

LOL Great technical analysis of the performance of MKII compared to the 5D from a couple of "pros". Did you happen to see any of their work, Dwight?
