First is a 1:1 crop of a comma butterfly. Second is an ovipositing (egg-laying) pair of azure damselflies shot an hour ago. Hand held, natural sunlight. Canon S3+500D

Think the crop in #1 is too tight- not enough detail and too much noise, #2 is excellent.
Love watching the antics of damsel flies- did you get any solo males buzzing the laying pair?

Thanks for the comments, both. I think I was trying to stretch rather simple close-up kit too far with shot one, whereas I'm on familiar ground with damselflies.
@Brian, There were only one or two single males around this spot at this time and four or five laying pairs so the males were a bit confused by all the activity I think.

Nice shots Eccles, #1 could do with some noise filtering. #2 is wonderful, lovely colours and well placed plane of focus.
