Hiya LKester,
Nice shots all, like #4 best of all, no other reason sept it just caught my eye maybe it's the two Aphids that made me look twice.
Cheers for now

Nice shots.
All the skippers are large skipper males. The dark markings at the edge of the wings are classic. Also, note the dark lines running down the middle of the upper wings which are male scent pheremones. You can just see them through the wings of pics 4 & 5, and on 6 & 7 they're easy to spot.
Number one is a meadow brown.
The blue is probably a common blue but it's been quite badly damaged with the orange arcs on the wingtips nearly completely gone but still just about there if you look closely; the black dots are about right. First brood CBs appear late May and are just about done a month later, so If this was shot recently then it's really past its lifespan, accounting for the state it's in. You can just see the brown upperwing with a few blue scales, making it probably a female.
Cheers,
Eccles.

Great photos Lester!

I agree about #4 being a Large Skipper, I saw about a dozen of them whilst walking my dog this morning. Coincidentally, there were also a few of your #1 butterflies around too. I believe they are Meadow Browns Maniola jurtina.

Drat, eccles beat me to it ;)

Thanks Brian.

Almost no butterflies are visiting my garden yet; one Skipper was at Thursly NNR and all the others wandering round a NT house garden, luckerly both these places are less than an hours drive.
